Legal Issues

The emulation framework is released under the LGPL (Lesser General Public License).  In general, you can use the framework with many open source and commercial projects as long as you comply with a few reasonable provisions.  The LGPL was selected for this very reason.

Trade Secrets

The emulation framework was designed with information obtained legally.  This includes public documentation and legal reverse-engineering efforts.

ROMs and Software Images

The term "ROM" commonly refers to an extract of a disk, tape, or game cartridge that has been packaged as a file for easy distribution and execution in an emulator.  Be aware that virtually all ROM files contain copyrighted programming code and resources (such as images and audio data).  It is illegal to distribute or download such files unless you have the explicit permission of the copyright owner.
